Install & use

Let AI help you install

Connect the device and give AI the detection results together with this firmware information.

1

Confirm the device and connect USB

USB chip information cannot distinguish monochrome from four-color screens. Confirm the model first.

Connect USB and detect the device

Read the chip and capacity first, so AI needs fewer follow-up questions.

Detection may restart the device into download mode. It does not flash firmware; you still need to confirm the display model.

Not detected yet. You can also copy the task first and ask AI to help connect.

2

Give the installation task to AI

Codex on your computer can install dependencies and run programs locally.

What AI will do next

Check compatibility → Prepare firmware and a full backup → Assist with local installation → Verify first run

After copying, start a new chat in Codex on your computer and paste the task.

Only project information and the device details selected here are included. Network addresses, accounts and keys are configured locally during installation.

3

After installation, check this

The device shows the expected Is It Friday Yet? screen and continues to work after repeated updates.

Ask AI to report the installation location, verification results and how to start again. Continue in the same conversation if something goes wrong.

NOTE4C four-color display · Chinese text · 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi for initial setup

  1. Confirm the four-color device and back up

This project supports NOTE4C only. Back up the complete Flash and record the existing partition layout.

  2. Choose an installation method

For first installation, use the project's matching complete merged image. App-only updates apply only when the partition layout is compatible. This site has not checked the current Release and installable files, and does not offer flashing here.

  3. Initialize time and Wi-Fi

Follow the project's first-boot flow to join its hotspot and configure home Wi-Fi and time. Afterwards, use the buttons to change messages or reopen settings.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the same as the monochrome weather plugin?

No. This is firmware installed on NOTE4C. A computer-based weather plugin that retains the factory firmware is a different workflow.

Does it need a constant internet connection after installation?

According to the listed documentation, the RTC keeps time offline and the device refreshes and synchronizes time on a schedule. Check the selected version for exact behavior.
