Install & use

Let AI help you install

Connect the device and give AI the detection results together with this firmware information.

1

Confirm the device and connect USB

USB chip information cannot distinguish monochrome from four-color screens. Confirm the model first.

Connect USB and detect the device

Read the chip and capacity first, so AI needs fewer follow-up questions.

Detection may restart the device into download mode. It does not flash firmware; you still need to confirm the display model.

Not detected yet. You can also copy the task first and ask AI to help connect.

2

Give the installation task to AI

Codex on your computer can install dependencies and run programs locally.

What AI will do next

Check compatibility → Prepare firmware and a full backup → Assist with local installation → Verify first run

After copying, start a new chat in Codex on your computer and paste the task.

Only project information and the device details selected here are included. Network addresses, accounts and keys are configured locally during installation.

3

After installation, check this

The device shows the expected NOTE4 16-Level Grayscale Demo screen and continues to work after repeated updates.

Ask AI to report the installation location, verification results and how to start again. Continue in the same conversation if something goes wrong.

Monochrome NOTE4 Devkit · ESP-IDF development environment

  1. Prepare the development environment

This display-driver demo targets monochrome NOTE4 Devkit. Prepare ESP-IDF and a USB data cable, and save a complete Flash backup first.

  2. Build firmware for the target board

Obtain the repository source and select ESP32-S3 and the matching monochrome panel using the development guide. This site has not verified an installable release package.

  3. Observe the display

Install your compiled demo firmware over USB and observe full refresh, partial refresh and grayscale. Then modify the example to add your own display.

Frequently asked questions

Is this complete consumer firmware?

It is a development reference demo. The installed experience follows the demo program and is not the full consumer NOTE4 feature set.

Can it be installed on NOTE4C?

No. NOTE4C's four-color panel requires different display settings. Monochrome firmware images cannot be used.
